ABOUT THE MOVIE

Black Adam is a fictional character in the DC Comics universe. He is a supervillain who has primarily appeared as an enemy of the superhero Shazam (formerly known as Captain Marvel).

Black Adam was created by writer Otto Binder and artist C.C. Beck and first appeared in The Marvel Family #1 in December 1945.

Origin Story:

The character of Black Adam was originally a champion of the wizard Shazam, bestowed with the powers of six mythical figures: Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury.

He was chosen to protect the ancient land of Kahndaq from threats, and he ruled the kingdom as a fair and just leader.

However, over time, Black Adam's power corrupted him, and he became more ruthless in his methods of protecting his people.

Eventually, he was banished to the far reaches of space by the wizard Shazam, and the hero Shazam took his place as the protector of Kahndaq.

Years later, Black Adam was able to return to Earth and seek revenge against Shazam and the superhero community at large.

Powers and Abilities:

Black Adam's powers are derived from the same magical source as Shazam's. When he says the magic word "Shazam," he transforms into his superpowered form, which grants him the following abilities:

  • Strength: Black Adam possesses incredible physical strength, rivaling that of Superman.
  • Speed: He can move at superhuman speeds, making him a difficult target to hit.
  • Durability: Black Adam is nearly invulnerable to most forms of physical harm.
  • Flight: He can fly at great speeds and altitudes.
  • Lightning: He can summon bolts of magical lightning to use as weapons or to power his other abilities.
  • Magic: Black Adam has extensive knowledge of and control over magical energies.

In addition to his powers, Black Adam is an expert fighter and strategist, with centuries of experience in combat.

Appearances in Comics:

Black Adam has appeared in numerous DC Comics over the years, often as a primary antagonist to Shazam and the Justice Society of America. Some notable storylines featuring Black Adam include:

  • JSA: Black Reign: In this storyline, Black Adam goes on a rampage after the death of his wife and inadvertently kills several members of the Justice Society of America.
  • 52: Black Adam plays a major role in this year-long weekly comic series, in which he becomes a hero of the nation of Kahndaq and marries his love interest, Isis.
  • World War III: Black Adam leads an attack on the United States in this storyline, seeking revenge for the death of his wife and the destruction of Kahndaq.
  • Justice League: Black Adam is a member of the Justice League in this comic series, but his violent tendencies and conflict with other members lead to his expulsion from the team.
  • Shazam!: Black Adam is the main villain of this limited series, which explores the origins of the Shazam family and introduces new characters to the DC universe.

Other Media:

In addition to his comic book appearances, Black Adam has also appeared in various forms of media, including:

  • Animated series: Black Adam has appeared in several animated series, including Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Young Justice.
  • Video games: Black Adam is a playable character in the Injustice series of fighting games and has appeared in other DC Comics video games.
